Adding/Moving Devices Using Existing Network Ports

CSU Network Baseline provides university offices and classrooms with one wall jack that supports 3 connections. Typically:

* One is used for phone service
* One is used for a 10/100 Mb/s data network connection
* One is an available spare to be connected to the voice or data network based on need.


ITS normally activates phone changes within five (5) business days and data changes when existing cabling is in place within three (3) business days. These changes are completed between 8am and 5pm on Cal Poly business days. However, if these changes will cause a significant service interruption, please contact Network Administration at 6-1295 to discuss other options. We may be able to accommodate the change request if there is enough lead time and available resources.
Requests for additional phone service may be subject to monthly departmental charges if the service requested is beyond the designated

* one phone per faculty/staff (.5 FTE or greater) or
* one phone per department


Requests for adds or moves are initiated by either contacting the ITS Service Desk at 6-7000 or by submitting a Remedy request. Data service requests are best initiated via your Departmental LAN Coordinator and phone service requests should be initiated via your Department Telephone Coordinator.
