Obtaining Concord Network Reports

What is Concord?
Concord is a network metric-gathering tool, and is an application that resides at the CSU Chancellors office. The Chancellors office provides Concord services to all 23 CSUs.

What can Concord do?
Concord is used by Network Administration to view the performance of the network via detailed reports about network device parameters such as utilization, link status, CPU usage, etc. These reports are generated by the Concord system at the Chancellors office, and then emailed to us on a periodic basis so that trends and events can be viewed in one report. Such a report might contain information such as:

  • Trend analysis and capacity planning data.
  • Performance data to determine/predict when impacts will occur
  • Overall response time data, for problem diagnosis
  • Network availability and performance data
  • Confirmation that a fix solved the diagnosed problem

Who can get access to Concord reports?
DLAN Coordinators have the opportunity to get the same reports for their network devices in their buildings.

How to use and take advantage of Concord
DLAN Coordinators should make a Remedy request to Network Administration, detailing their location (building and floor). Network Administration will in turn contact the CSU Concord Administrator; the Administrator will construct the report(s) and send them to the DLAN's Cal Poly email address on a weekly or monthly basis. Adjustments to these reports can be made, as necessary.

What does a Concord report look like?
The following is a fictitious example of a Concord report. In this example, Concord is reporting two errors on a device used by Network Administration; once the problems are fixed, these items would be removed by Concord in subsequent reports:
